Heavy rainfall and strong winds caused widespread damage across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, resulting in at least seven deaths and 33 injuries. The casualties, including children, men, and women, occurred due to roof and wall collapses in districts including Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported the incidents followed a forecast of dust and windstorms, rain, and thunderstorms across upper regions of the country. Relief efforts are underway with coordination between PDMA, Rescue 1122, and local administrations. Authorities are urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel, especially to tourist areas, and heed government advisories. The PDMA’s Emergency Operation Centre is active, and a helpline – 1700 – is available for those affected. This follows earlier rain-related incidents in May that resulted in two deaths and eleven injuries within the province.
