The University Center of Dakar (COUD) has implemented new security measures in university residences ahead of the 2026 World Cup to prevent accidents related to large student gatherings during matches. The COUD has strictly prohibited students from watching games on window sills, balconies, rooftops, or similar precarious locations, citing significant safety risks. To accommodate students, the COUD has established dedicated fan zones on various campuses, including Aline Sitoé Diatta, ESP/ENSETP, FASTEF, and three locations within the Grande Cité universitaire. These fan zones are designed to allow students to enjoy the World Cup in a secure environment. The COUD emphasizes the importance of student responsibility and vigilance throughout the competition. The initiative aims to balance enthusiasm for the World Cup with the need to ensure student safety within the residences, and the COUD urges full compliance with the new regulations.
