Ahead of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (JOJ Dakar 2026), Dakar Mayor Abass Fall inspected ongoing road rehabilitation projects in Usine Bène Tally, Fass, Colobane, and Gueule-Tapée. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work undertaken by the City of Dakar, noting successful partnerships with local companies that create youth employment opportunities. However, Mayor Fall vehemently criticized the recurring obstructions caused by the ONAS, citing a lack of coordination. He stated the ONAS frequently damages completed projects without repairs, hindering the City of Dakar's efforts. The Mayor publicly urged authorities to address this issue and for the ONAS to respect the work of local authorities. He also called for protection of the newly built infrastructure against illegal occupation and reiterated his commitment to completing the remaining landscaping projects.
