A major theft of 100 million CFA francs in Dakar has taken a new turn as the initial suspect’s claims have been discredited. M. L. Sy, initially identified as the son of a financial crimes magistrate and claiming the money was taken from his father’s safe, has retracted his statement. Investigations now point to a network of young individuals orchestrating the theft from a vehicle owned by A. Ndiaye. A. Sarr, a 22-year-old student, is considered the central figure, allegedly facilitating access to the vehicle where the money was stolen at the Liberté 6 roundabout. The complainant, A. Ndiaye, reported being approached by Sarr, who feigned interest in the vehicle under the guise of being an automotive student. Police are now focusing on this new lead, dismissing the earlier familial connection suggested by the initial suspect’s false claim.
