A parliamentary inquiry in Senegal is investigating the transfer of strategic land in the Centre-ville of Dakar to Ad Immobilier, a company controlled by the Israeli Peretz family. The land, valued at 9 billion FCFA, included the former headquarters of the National Gendarmerie, the National Archives, and the national dojo. In exchange, Ad Immobilier was to construct a new headquarters for the Gendarmerie’s general staff, estimated to cost 5 billion FCFA – creating a potential 4 billion FCFA loss for the state. A 50-year lease was granted in May 2021 for an annual rent of just 5 million FCFA. Opposition figure Ousmane Sonko previously accused the state in 2022 of transferring land to businessman Idan Peretz's company for a value of 7 billion FCFA. The contested area encompasses nearly 5,000 m² in the Plateau area of Dakar.
