A recent Ipsos survey for energy company epet reveals Czech citizens largely remain unconcerned about potential large-scale power outages, and preparedness levels have not improved since last year’s partial blackout. Only around 40% of the population is actively seeking information on how to respond to such an event. A significant portion of households lack basic emergency supplies, with over one-third not having a 24-hour supply of drinking water. Furthermore, approximately only one in eight homes has a backup power source. Despite these vulnerabilities, the survey indicates a decrease in reported electricity outages across Czech households in the past year. The findings suggest a gap between perceived risk and actual preparation among the Czech public. This lack of readiness could pose challenges should a significant energy disruption occur.
