A recent study from Masaryk University reveals that the vast majority of Czech children and teenagers – 92 percent – use smartphones daily to access the internet. This represents a significant generational shift in technology usage within the country. Only 31 percent of this age group report using desktop computers or laptops on a daily basis. Researchers highlight the preference for mobile devices, indicating a growing reliance on smartphones for everyday online activities. The study underscores a clear divergence in how younger and older generations engage with technology. The primary driver for smartphone use among youth is entertainment. This trend suggests a continued move towards mobile-first internet access for Czech youth.
