Miroslav Krejčí, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies’ Education Committee (for Motoristé), stated that Czech universities need to utilize their funding more efficiently. He responded to complaints from universities regarding insufficient government funding planned for 2027 and 2028. Krejčí suggests increased use of electronic and IT technologies in teaching as a potential solution. He characterizes higher education institutions as a “black hole” receiving billions of crowns from the ministry without accountability for how the funds are spent. During an interview on ČT24, moderated by Daniel Takáč, the former head of CERMAT also criticized the high rate of functionally illiterate children leaving basic schools, blaming the school inspectorate. Krejčí also mentioned that governing parties will discuss amendments regarding teaching assistants at a coalition council meeting on Monday, deeming the current number of 30,000 excessive.
