A major revitalisation project on the Lomná River in the Beskydy Mountains has been completed by the Czech state enterprise Lesy ČR. The 18.6 million CZK project, supported by the European Union, focused on a half-kilometer stretch of the river. The restoration significantly improves flood protection by allowing the river to handle greater water volume during floods. Importantly, the project has removed concrete structures that previously trapped fish and disrupted the natural flow. These improvements restore the river’s natural character and enhance its ecological health. The revitalisation demonstrates a commitment to balancing flood safety with environmental conservation in the region. This successful project will benefit both wildlife and local communities.
