The Czech government plans to restrict the legal sale of kratom to individuals aged 21 and older, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced Wednesday. The forthcoming regulations also include a ban on online sales of the substance. In addition to the age restriction and sales ban, the government proposes implementing a consumption tax on kratom. The standard VAT rate will also be applied, replacing the current reduced rate. These measures aim to regulate kratom, a psychomodulatory substance, and control its distribution within the country. The changes are part of a broader effort to address the sale of such substances.
