The Czech Road Directorate (ŘSD) has opened a 6.2-kilometer section of the D35 highway connecting Ostrov and Vysoký Mýto. However, the Homole tunnel remains closed, requiring drivers to take a detour. The tunnel’s opening has been postponed until next summer due to challenging geological conditions encountered during construction. This newly completed stretch represents progress in expanding the Czech Republic’s highway network. Despite the delay, authorities anticipate the full D35 section will significantly improve connectivity and traffic flow. The RdŠ confirmed they are working to resolve the geological issues and ensure the tunnel’s safe operation. The completed segment offers a notable improvement for motorists traveling between the two towns.
