The Czech government will provide an additional one billion Czech crowns to social services before the end of the year. According to Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Aleš Juchelka (ANO), half of the funds have already been distributed to the regions, with the remainder to follow in October and November. However, the opposition argues that this funding is arriving too late and that even with this supplement, the financial needs of social services will not be fully met. Critics believe the extra billion crowns won’t solve the existing financial difficulties. The Ministry is simultaneously working on developing a new system for financing social services in the Czech Republic. The additional funds are intended to support the provision of vital services across the country.
