Czech police officers are stationed in Croatia during peak tourist season to provide assistance to Czech citizens. The initiative supports the large influx of Czech tourists – nearly 780,000 visited last year – offering help with incidents like theft and traffic accidents. Beyond direct aid, officers also provide translation services to Croatian colleagues, particularly in emergency situations. A recent tragedy involving a collision between a catamaran and a sailboat resulted in the deaths of four Czech tourists, prompting a meeting between Czech and Croatian investigators. Following the incident, the Czech Republic is considering expanding its “Drozd” system to allow tourists to easily connect with doctors and obtain prescriptions abroad. The program aims to enhance the safety and wellbeing of Czech nationals travelling in Croatia.
