Czech Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar intends to dismiss the director of the State Institute of Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection, Tomáš Dropa, following revelations of training provided to Chinese military experts. Metnar characterized the collaboration with experts from a Beijing military academy as a security risk and stated he will discuss the matter with intelligence services. Dropa previously indicated the Chinese request for a visit and training course was made directly to the institute and that the collaboration benefitted Czech research. As of reporting, Dropa has not publicly responded to the announced dismissal. The training reportedly took place at the institute, raising concerns about potential vulnerabilities. The Minister’s decision reflects growing scrutiny of foreign engagement within sensitive Czech institutions.
