The dismantling of a massive excavator, the RK 5000, formerly used at the ČSA quarry in the Czech Republic, is underway. The process involved controlled explosions targeting the machine’s assembly crane and dipper stick. Approximately 4.5 kilograms of explosives were used to bring down these components. The RK 5000 is considered one of the largest machines in Czech history and is now being decommissioned as scrap. The demolition utilized a carefully planned series of blasts, creating significant noise. This marks a significant step in the site’s repurposing following the quarry’s closure. The dismantling is being carried out to safely remove the large structure.
