Estimates suggest the Czech Republic’s minimum wage could increase by 2,500 Czech crowns to 24,900 crowns starting in January. This proposed rise is based on calculations outlined in a draft government regulation using coefficients for minimum wage computation. The proposed regulation sets the minimum wage for next year at 44.6 percent of the average wage, increasing to 45.8 percent by 2028, potentially reaching 26,900 crowns. The proposal will undergo review by the tripartrite commission, a body representing employers, employees, and the government. Currently, approximately 4.9 percent of Czech employees—around 181,000 individuals—earn the minimum wage. The increase aims to reflect broader economic trends and improve living standards for lower-income workers.
