Hockey club HC Litvínov is facing significant financial difficulties and is actively seeking a new major investor. Previous losses were consistently covered by its former owner, Orlen. However, the current ownership, comprised of Robert Kysela and Jiří Šlégra, lack the resources to continue absorbing the club’s deficits. Kysela, a former world champion, stated bluntly that they need to find a wealthy benefactor, specifically mentioning potential investors like Tykač or Křetínský. The club is no longer able to simply “patch up” the financial holes in its budget. This situation raises concerns about the long-term viability of the historically successful Czech hockey team. The search for investment is now a top priority for the club’s leadership.
