Croatian banks are currently holding substantial wealth in euro deposits, however, rising inflation is significantly diminishing its real value. Data from the Croatian National Bank (HNB) indicates that Croatian citizens had 33 billion euros in current and savings accounts as of June 2026. An additional 10 billion euros was held in term deposits at that time. This represents a significant sum accumulated within the Croatian financial system. However, the continuous rise in inflation is eroding the purchasing power of these savings. The situation highlights a concern for Croatian citizens regarding the real return on their deposits.
