Residents of the Croatian islands have identified five critical needs for maintaining sustainable life on the islands. These concerns stem from challenges related to accessibility and essential services. High property costs pose a significant barrier, while disrupted maritime connections to mainland towns during students’ education create hardship. Furthermore, island residents must routinely travel to the mainland for specialized medical examinations, highlighting a gap in local healthcare provisions. These issues demonstrate a need for improved infrastructure and support networks to ensure the long-term viability of communities across Croatia’s islands. Addressing these urgent requirements is crucial for preserving life on the islands.
