Dutch journalists Robert van de Griend and Anneke Stoffelen have been awarded the Brusseprijs, the Netherlands’ top prize for journalistic books, for their biography *De IJsprofeet* (The Ice Prophet). The book offers a critical examination of Wim Hof, known internationally as “The Iceman” for his cold-water training and breathing techniques. While Hof has gained global recognition and broken cold-exposure records, the authors investigate inconsistencies in his claims and allegations of harmful consequences linked to his methods, including over twenty reported drowning deaths. *De IJsprofeet* also delves into contradictions within Hof’s personal history and accusations of past abuse towards his ex-partner and her children. The jury praised the book’s thorough research and balanced approach, noting it avoids reducing Hof to a caricature. The authors conducted their work without Hof’s cooperation and received a €10,000 prize.
