Women-led households in the rural communities of Bijagual de Acosta and Carrizal de León Cortés, Costa Rica, are actively engaged in tree cultivation. This initiative focuses on protecting vital water sources in the southern regions of San José and Cartago provinces. The project empowers women while addressing environmental concerns related to water security. This year alone, these groups are expected to contribute over 7,000 trees to reforestation efforts. The trees planted serve as natural protectors of watersheds, ensuring a sustainable water supply for local communities. The initiative highlights a community-based approach to environmental conservation and sustainable resource management. It demonstrates the crucial role of women in ecological preservation within the region.
