A copilot who attacked the captain during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv intended to carry out a 9/11-inspired attack. The public prosecutor of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) revealed the suspect, an Omani national, planned to crash the aircraft into Ben-Gurion Airport in Israel. Investigations showed the 29-year-old previously flew two flights to Tel Aviv to familiarize himself with the flight path and airport layout. Authorities believe he aimed for a terminal at Ben-Gurion Airport, with the intention of maximizing casualties among the largely Israeli passenger manifest of 174 people. The prosecutor, Hamad Saif al Shamsi, stated the suspect was motivated by the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US. Israel has requested the suspect's extradition following the incident on September 30th while en route to Tel Aviv with an Indian captain.
