The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has released a guidebook intended to assist building owners and developers in Singapore with flood-proofing their properties. This initiative addresses increasing concerns about the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on coastal infrastructure. The guidebook provides guidance on incorporating flood resilience measures into building design and construction. Simultaneously, the PUB is working to bolster the coastal protection workforce by establishing a skills framework. This framework will identify crucial skills needed within the industry and guide training and development programs. The combined efforts aim to enhance Singapore’s overall preparedness for and mitigation of flood risks, protecting both property and ensuring a skilled workforce for future coastal defense projects. The focus is on proactive measures to minimize potential damage and disruption from flooding events.
