The body of renowned climber Nirmal Purja has been recovered in Pakistan, following an avalanche on Broad Peak. Purja was confirmed dead on Saturday afternoon after being reported missing earlier in the week along with nine others. The Pakistani Alpine Club announced the discovery on Sunday morning. Purja gained global recognition in 2019 by summiting all 14 of the world’s highest peaks in a record-breaking six months. He was a highly respected figure in the mountaineering community and his loss is deeply felt. The recovery marks a somber end to the search efforts on the dangerous Broad Peak.
