During Cirebon’s 599th anniversary celebrations, West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Commission I member Sidkon Djampi urged increased provincial government support for Islamic boarding schools, known as pesantren. Djampi emphasized the importance of recognizing and continuing the legacy of Cirebon’s founders. He believes strengthening pesantren is vital for regional development and preserving cultural heritage. The call to action aims to leverage the anniversary as a catalyst for bolstering these institutions. Djampi encouraged all community members to reflect on Cirebon’s rich history and contribute to its future progress. This initiative seeks to integrate pesantren more effectively into the broader educational and societal landscape of West Java.
