A team from Northwestern Polytechnical University in collaboration with Xian Tianhe Maritime Technologies has achieved a new Guinness World Record. The record recognizes the “most autonomous underwater vehicles operating simultaneously.” During a test conducted in a swimming pool, the team successfully deployed and operated 116 autonomous underwater vehicles at the same time. These robots, known as TH-618s, demonstrated coordinated movement as a swarm. This achievement highlights advancements in underwater robotics technology originating in China. The successful trial showcases the potential of these drones for future underwater exploration and tasks. This record-setting event marks a significant milestone in the field of autonomous underwater systems.
