China’s first Type 076 amphibious assault ship, the Sichuan, is undergoing final tests ahead of its commissioning, according to state media reports. The 40,000-tonne vessel boasts a substantial 250-metre flight deck and has recently completed deck line markings, signaling its progression into the final testing phase. Footage released depicts the Sichuan launching GJ-21 stealth fighter drones, showcasing a key capability of the new warship. Military analysts confirm the ship is preparing for active service, bolstering China’s naval power projection capabilities.
