A new report from the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) in Washington projects a slowdown in China’s economic growth over the next few years. The report anticipates China’s GDP will grow by 4.6 per cent this year and 4.3 per cent in 2027, following 5 per cent growth in 2025. This deceleration is attributed to diminishing export strength and ongoing weakness in domestic demand within China. Despite these challenges in China, the global economy is expected to remain resilient. The PIIE's semi-annual Global Economic Prospects report, released on Tuesday, provides these forecasts. The findings suggest a shifting dynamic in global economic power, with China experiencing a moderate cooling while the broader global economy continues to expand.
