China is rapidly developing a low-altitude air transport system utilizing electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The Sichuan province is leading testing of these passenger-carrying eVTOLs, particularly in challenging mountainous terrain. China has recently achieved a milestone by domestically producing its first eVTOL engine. Aerospace company Aerofugia successfully conducted trials in Sichuan’s Panda Air Corridor in April. This development signifies a growing focus on “low-altitude economy” within China, aiming to integrate eVTOLs into regional transportation networks. The initiative highlights China’s ambition to become a leader in advanced air mobility technologies and infrastructure. Further expansion and commercial applications are anticipated following these successful tests.
