China swiftly responded to the recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, providing $4.5 million in emergency support to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. The aid package was formalized during a meeting between the Africa CDC Director General, Jean Kaseya, and China’s mission head to the African Union, Jiang Feng, in Addis Ababa. In addition to financial support, China dispatched a five-member medical team to Kinshasa to assist with on-the-ground efforts. This rapid assistance highlights China’s commitment to being a reliable partner in African health crises.
