Domingo Rojas, head of Chile’s Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), is facing scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest. Appointed in March, Rojas previously provided consulting services to Frutas de Chile, a fruit industry association, through a company called 5 Partners. He continued to advise the group until the same month he assumed his government position. Following his appointment, Rojas met with representatives from Frutas de Chile on at least two occasions, including discussions related to the same issues he consulted on as a private advisor. Rojas failed to disclose 5 Partners in his financial declaration. Experts suggest this represents a clear conflict of interest, violating regulations requiring officials to abstain from matters related to prior work for at least two years.
