A new study by Datavoz, titled "Childhood and Gambling," reveals significant concern among caregivers regarding minors' access to online betting platforms. The research indicates that over 57% of respondents are worried about the potential impact of these platforms on those under 18. A majority, 58.4%, favor an outright prohibition of online betting, while 41.6% believe regulation is the appropriate course of action. Datavoz co-founder Paulina Valenzuela emphasizes that caregivers are aware of the risks and recognize the need for regulation. The study also points to the importance of assessing household spending on betting and investigating its connection to both sports betting and potential criminal activity. Valenzuela suggests a greater understanding of these factors is crucial for effective policy development.
