A certificate intended to protect children in the Czech Republic from predators is facing problems, prompting calls for revisions from lawmakers. The certification system, set to be implemented in January, aims to prevent individuals with a history of harming children from working with them. This initiative is partly a response to cases like that of “Mr. Train,” a man twice convicted of raping a child who founded an organization, Děti ráje železnice, in Liberec and subsequently used it to sexually abuse minors. The certificate would be required for anyone seeking employment involving contact with children. Concerns about the certificate’s effectiveness and potential loopholes have fueled the push for amendments. The goal is to strengthen safeguards and ensure the protection of vulnerable children across the Czech Republic.
