Vietnamese police have dismantled a criminal network involved in the theft and trade of cats for human consumption. Authorities recovered over 400 live cats and 80 deceased cats stored in freezers during a raid. More than 40 cats have been successfully reunited with their owners, according to Humane World for Animals. The operation targeted a gang specializing in stealing pets to supply a demand for cat meat. The recovered animals were being held in conditions suggesting preparation for sale as food. Police are continuing to investigate the extent of the operation and identify further individuals involved in the illegal trade. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of animal trafficking and the illegal wildlife trade in the region.
