Dutch engineering firm Arcadis has confirmed it has received two takeover bids from Canadian competitor WSP Global. The initial offer of €48.50 per share was rejected, followed by a revised bid of €51.50. Arcadis considers the offer "unwelcome" but will carefully review it. The company’s board believes Arcadis is stronger operating independently and delivering better value to shareholders. Concerns over WSP Global’s integration plans also contributed to the initial rejection. Founded in 1888, Arcadis employs over 34,000 people in more than thirty countries, providing design and advisory services for construction, water, and environmental projects. News of the bids caused Arcadis’ stock price to increase yesterday.
