Cameroonian musician Simon Longkana Agno, known as Longue Longue, has returned to Yaoundé after being expelled from France. He was initially detained upon arrival but was granted provisional release following an announcement of his allegiance to the “Biyaïste” movement, a group supporting President Paul Biya. Longue Longue had been facing an arrest warrant in Cameroon related to accusations of insulting the head of state. His release was facilitated by Senator Françoise Puene, who is providing him with accommodation and acted as a guarantor. Prior to his expulsion, Longue Longue, who previously styled himself as a “Liberator,” was subject to legal proceedings in France. The artist’s return follows a period of judicial uncertainty and a shift in his public stance towards the Cameroonian government.
