Bah Oumarou Sanda, a prominent Cameroonian jurist and diplomat, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Yaoundé at the age of 86. Sanda served as one of the first members of the Constitutional Council, contributing significantly to its establishment and identity, particularly during the October 2018 presidential election. His career spanned the judiciary, where he held positions as a prosecutor in various regions and eventually became a General Prosecutor at the West Court of Appeal, and diplomacy, serving as Cameroon’s ambassador to Chad until 2018. A graduate of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (Enam), Sanda transitioned from judicial roles to become Secretary-General of the National Assembly. He was recognized for his wisdom and experience, securing a prestigious position in the newly formed Constitutional Council following the 1996 constitutional revision. He was buried on the same day in Soa, following Muslim tradition.
