A tripartite workshop is underway in Yaoundé, Cameroon, to develop an agreement for digitizing and securing tourism licenses, permits, and certificates. The initiative, coordinated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTOUL), NDIORO A MAMOUM, aligns with the modernization vision of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND30). The agreement aims to strengthen the authentication of tourism documents through secure physical and digital measures. A key principle emphasized is increasing transparency and inter-institutional coordination to optimize public revenue, rather than introducing new taxes. The state’s ownership of data will be maintained, while ensuring the digital transition doesn’t burden small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism sector. The workshop is expected to produce a consensus document, an operational roadmap, and recommendations for higher authorities.
