A tragic accident on the Yaounde-Douala route in Cameroon on Sunday resulted in seven fatalities. The accident has prompted the national federation of transport companies (Fecaco) to issue a warning about the dangerous condition of the country’s national roads, specifically routes N°3 and N°4. These roads are described as narrow, less than eight meters wide, and lacking central dividers. Fecaco argues this design significantly increases the risk of collisions. The organization is calling for urgent infrastructure improvements to enhance road safety for all users. This incident highlights longstanding concerns regarding inadequate road infrastructure contributing to a high number of traffic accidents in Cameroon. Authorities have yet to respond to Fecaco's specific concerns.
