Cameroon’s Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, is at the 43rd session of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) in Geneva from September 30 to October 2, 2026. The country aims to strengthen financial and extra-financial information reliability to attract sustainable investments. Cameroon is advocating for improved quality and dependability of company and administrative data regarding economic, social, and environmental performance – data categorized under ESG criteria. These ESG factors are increasingly critical for investors seeking to assess risks and build confidence. Alongside the ISAR sessions, Motaze held bilateral meetings with UNCTAD officials to discuss a new phase of technical assistance for Cameroon, including support for pilot companies, professional training, data system development, and integration of sustainability reporting into the OHADA accounting framework. Yaoundé hopes that increased transparency will unlock sustainable, green, and responsible financing to support its development strategy.
