Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, began a two-day working visit to Bamenda, the regional capital of the North-West region, on October 14 and 15, 2026. The visit centers around launching a community dialogue initiative aimed at addressing the decade-long security crisis plaguing the region. Prime Minister Dion Ngute will also meet with key stakeholders and visit several key project sites – including the regional customs headquarters, the ombudsman’s offices, and regional assembly buildings – to accelerate their implementation. Projects include infrastructure improvements at Minhdu and C2D, the Champions School intersection, the new Bamenda I market, the Bamenda I-Mezam road, and the newly constructed Mankon District Hospital. Following a similar visit to Buea, the regional capital of the South-West region on September 28, 2026, this Bamenda trip aims to encourage peace and convince separatist fighters to disarm. The visits occur amidst ongoing attacks in both regions, particularly concerning given the recent school year start in Cameroon.
