Cameroon’s President Paul Biya has been absent from the country for nearly two months, sparking widespread speculation about his health and the stability of the government. This prolonged absence prompted questions regarding a potential power vacuum. On Sunday, the government addressed the issue publicly for the first time through Minister of Communication René Emmanuel Sadi. In an interview with RFI, Sadi affirmed that President Biya is alive and that no power vacuum exists. He also indicated Biya’s imminent return to Cameroon, though without providing a specific date. The minister responded to opposition claims during the interview with Polycarpe Essomba, aiming to quell rumors and reassure the public. Sadi is scheduled for a further interview on Monday.
