A large-scale measles and rubella vaccination campaign began Wednesday in all ten regions of Cameroon and will continue until October 18th. Originally scheduled for September 16-20, the campaign was delayed due to the start of the school year. The initiative, part of the Expanded Programme on Immunization, aims to proactively address the spread of the diseases in health districts across the country. As of September, the Ministry of Public Health reported an outbreak in 120 health districts, with 9,568 cases and 18 deaths. Vaccination teams will visit health centers, schools, markets, transportation hubs, villages, and even remote areas to vaccinate children aged nine months to five years. The campaign will also include catch-up vaccinations and the search for suspected cases of measles, rubella, yellow fever, and Mpox.
