Cameroon’s National Observatory on Climate Change (ONACC) has issued a climate alert, warning of potential flooding in seven of the country’s ten regions over the next ten days, beginning August 11th. The alert, covering the period until August 20th, cites prolonged heavy rainfall and drainage issues as primary causes. Specific areas at risk include cities like Douala and Ngaoundere, and localities within the Littoral, Southwest, Adamawa, Far North, North, Northwest, and West regions. Beyond flooding, the forecast also anticipates strong winds and possible landslides in some areas. Residents in these regions are advised to prepare for potential disruptions and take necessary precautions. The alert highlights the need for proactive measures to mitigate the impact of severe weather events.
