Cameroon’s national census and agriculture survey, RGPH/RGAE, has been extended to July 31, 2026, due to ongoing challenges in data collection. A technical committee met on June 8th to review progress and address obstacles hindering the process, receiving support from the UNFPA and FAO. Key issues include delayed payments to enumerators, leading to dissatisfaction and reduced data submission rates. Despite sufficient financial resources, administrative, technical, and logistical constraints are responsible for the slowdown. The committee has prioritized immediate payment of enumerators, securing data transmission, and improving public communication to encourage participation. The extension aims to ensure a comprehensive and accurate count for both the population and agricultural sectors.
