Cameroon’s Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) launched a feasibility study on August 31, 2026, to explore the potential for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) within the country. The initiative, conducted with the support of the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI) and the European Union, aims to assess local resources, appropriate technologies, and necessary conditions for SAF production and implementation. The study will also analyze the potential economic benefits, including job creation and the utilization of local resources, alongside emissions reductions. Following expert discussions, field investigations will be conducted over ten days, focusing on relevant industrial, agricultural, and infrastructure stakeholders. Results are anticipated within six months, paving the way for a national roadmap aligned with OACI standards. This development positions Cameroon within the growing global movement towards green aviation and commitment to international climate goals. The project seeks to create local value while modernizing the country’s air transport sector.
