Cameroon’s national information technology agency, ANTIC, is hosting a three-day forum in Yaoundé focused on bolstering the security and stability of the country’s Domain Name System (DNS). The 6th National DNS Forum, running June 17-19, 2026, brings together stakeholders from various government administrations and internet management organizations. Discussions center on governance, security, and resilience of the DNS, considered vital infrastructure for a functioning internet. The forum builds on previous efforts to secure Cameroon’s internet ecosystem, including implementing DNSSEC for the ".cm" domain and encouraging its adoption by major operators like MTN and Camtel. While progress has been made – currently at 56% DNSSEC validation – challenges remain in achieving full validation. DNSSEC protects against DNS spoofing but does not address IP address spoofing, according to ANTIC’s Director General, Ebot Ebot Enaw. The initiative aims to enhance Cameroon’s digital sovereignty and protect internet users from malicious redirection.
