Cameroon’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille Bassilekin III, met with outgoing and incoming directors of the French Development Agency (AFD) to reaffirm commitment to supporting local businesses. The meeting, held in Yaoundé, focused on future financing priorities and local transformation initiatives for SMEs, artisans, and social economies. Discussions included reviewing the progress of existing joint projects like TRANSFAGRI, SEPTENTRIONES, and SECAL, and exploring new collaborative opportunities. Key priorities include developing the wood industry, improving rural SME financing, modernizing processing equipment, and implementing a joint monitoring system. Both the Ministry and AFD aim to enhance support for cooperatives and entrepreneurs, fostering sustainable cooperation. This partnership seeks to drive local transformation, create jobs, and strengthen Cameroon’s entrepreneurial landscape.
