The Cambodia Livestock Raisers Association (CLRA) has voiced support for provincial authorities’ efforts to combat the illegal importation of live pigs, frozen meat, and poultry products from Vietnam. CLRA president Srun Pov commended the increased focus on suppressing these activities in border provinces. The crackdown aims to protect local farmers from unfair competition caused by cheaper, often unregulated, imports. These illegal imports pose risks to animal health and food safety standards within Cambodia. Pov highlighted the importance of consistent enforcement to ensure a stable market for domestic livestock producers. The CLRA believes stronger border controls will benefit the Cambodian agricultural sector and safeguard consumer wellbeing.
