One year following armed attacks along the Cambodia-Thailand border in Oddar Meanchey province, communities continue to suffer significant repercussions. Hundreds of families remain displaced, unable to safely return to their homes due to ongoing instability and the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXOs). Reconstruction efforts are severely hampered by these UXOs, preventing the repair of crucial public infrastructure. Local authorities report a lasting negative impact on daily life for residents in the affected areas. The conflict’s scars are deep, creating ongoing challenges for the region’s recovery and stability. Despite the passage of a year, a return to normalcy remains elusive for many. Further assistance and demining operations are urgently needed to facilitate the safe return of displaced people and rebuild shattered lives.
